I realize we have had several posts in a row just about the kindergarten.  Just one more before we move on to the primary grades!

If you live in the US, you might associate Mardi Gras primarily with a huge parade in New Orleans.  In Haiti, it is a big holiday, during which they hold an event called Kànaval (or, Carnival, in English).

The Kindergarten teachers held a special fun day for the kids on the Friday before the Kànaval holiday.

Teacher Therese made a special treat everyone–banana fritters!

(Thankfully, there were enough fritters for some of the rest of us to taste too….they were delicious!)

Then, the kids got to dress up in glitter masks and colorful paints.  (I love the little one in the middle with her mask all askew.)

They then proceeded to hold their own little singing parade around the school yard!

Next week, we leave the kindergarten and move on to the primary school with “What’s Up in First Grade.”  Stay tuned!
