Today we visit the Kindergarten 3 classroom. These are the “seniors” of the Kindergarten–those who will officially graduate in June and move on to primary school. As mentioned already in the post What’s Up in Kin 1?, kindergarten graduations are a big deal with a formal ceremony, caps, gowns, and tassels. The kids will showcase all that they have learned in kindergarten, and Kin 3 is the culminating preparation.

The kids in Kin 3 are working on reading, writing, and ‘rithmetic.

Specifically this week, they are working on the letter “M,” and its syllables when paired with the various vowels.

They also are practicing their counting and being introduced to simple addition.

They are learning about the domesticated animals, such as goats, cows, dogs, chickens, etc. The kids on the Plateau have lots of practical experience with these animals, since livestock is an important part of the economy. Most, if not all, of these children probably often go with a parent or older sibling to put the goats and sheep out to pasture or to bring them in again.

Can you identify this useful tune about farm animals?

As you can see, singing is one of the kids’ favorite activities. They also like to play (who doesn’t?), recite poems, draw, color and paint.

My kids liked the video of the children singing Old MacDonald! The children sang really well! Keep these updates coming!
